What can I do for you?
I am a corporate finance partner with over 20 years' experience of acting for clients, ranging from quoted companies on the official list and AIM, large private companies and owner managed businesses, through to private equity and VC backed high growth businesses.
The work that I have carried out for such companies includes mergers and acquisitions, MBOs and MBIs, fundraising and corporate restructuring transactions. I act for clients across a wide range of sectors, although in recent years I have developed a particular focus on working with clients in the food and beverage, healthcare and technology sectors.
Supporting my clients' objectives
A recent transaction that was most fulfilling involved me acting for a management team of a very high profile private equity owned business that was in the process of being sold to a US buyer for over £400 million. I had not previously acted for the company nor the management team, but happened to get in touch with them just at the time the sale process was kicking off. I worked with the management team throughout the sale process, ensuring that their interests were protected at all times and coming up with creative solutions to overcome what might otherwise have become deal obstacles for the management team.
For me the "proof of the pudding" was in the independent feedback comments provided by the managing director after closing of the transaction, in which he said: "From the start, he was enormously responsive and extremely professional ... there was a combination of a good experience, great service, good advice and real delivery. It was a delight." But perhaps the feedback that I liked best, in view of the fact that corporate lawyers sometimes get "bad press", is when he said: "[Anthony] is also a very nice guy, and a very close working relationship evolved incredibly quickly."
What do others say?
The Legal 500 directory has described me as "one of the leading corporate partners in the region" and the Chambers UK directory described me as "extremely bright, commercially dynamic and personable" and someone who enjoys "the deepest respect" of his clients.
What else should you know?
I was granted, in 2007, the Corporate Finance qualification by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in recognition of my substantial experience of dealing with corporate work.
Outside work, I am a board member and trustee of the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, and am also a debenture holder at Twickenham, an associate member of the MCC, a shareholder and longstanding supporter of Norwich City Football Club, a vice president of Cambridge Rugby Club and a member of The Gog Magog Golf Club outside Cambridge. I am very happily married to my wife, Alison, and we have three lovely daughters.
