What can I do for you?
I am a commercial litigation solicitor and specialise in resolving disputes in the public and private sectors. My job is to resolve disputes quickly, to my client’s advantage, and to protect my client’s position during legal proceedings. I regularly issue and defend legal proceedings in the High Court and have advised clients in many sectors including the food, manufacturing, automotive, software, pharmaceutical and petroleum industries. I also frequently advise NHS bodies.
Supporting my clients’ ambitions
Although I enjoy winning proceedings in court, my primary objective is to achieve an early resolution of disputes. My primary aim is to save time and money, which is better invested in my client’s business. For example, I recently acted for a global energy client faced with a particularly aggressive claimant. I successfully defeated the claimant's application for summary judgment in the Royal Courts of Justice and achieved a costs order in my client’s favour. Following its early defeat, the claimant was forced to take stock, accept the merit in my client’s defence and settle the dispute. Early settlement avoided the considerable expense of defending the proceedings through to trial.
What do others say?
My team has been singled out by the Legal 500 for providing “city quality advice” and “excellent service in all categories”. The most satisfying comments, however, come from valued clients with whom I have worked closely.
One particular client commented: "Steve Allen and Anthony Minnis demonstrated seldom matched presence of mind under the most demanding of circumstances. We believe this team could stabilise any situation through their resolute and timely application of direction, focus, and personal presence. Our hope is that they are widely recognised and sought after to resolve the most critical, complex problems.”
What else should you know?
I have experience in software development and procurement contracts, franchising and agency disputes and have advised numerous clients on commission claims brought by employment agencies. I also have a Diploma in Advocacy from the College of Law.
