What can I do for you?

I specialise in the law relating to construction and engineering projects and I act for all the different parties involved in them. My role is to advise on, draft, negotiate and agree the full range of contracts required to protect my clients' interests, so that they know how the risk in the project is allocated between them and the other parties and can secure their position accordingly.

Supporting my clients’ objectives

My work at Mills & Reeve involves acting for a good mix of both major private and public sector clients on challenging high profile transactions.

Some time ago, I advised on the FSA headquarters building at Canary Wharf and was then invited to the ceremony at which the Queen opened the building. More recently, I have advised the Government's Immigration and Nationality Directorate on its facilities at Folkestone and Gatwick, and the RFU on the redevelopment of the South Stand at Twickenham.

Currently, I am enjoying acting for several large NHS trusts on the development of new premises they are to acquire. I am also heavily involved in another exciting matter: Aston University's development of new student accommodation - Aston Student Villages. In addition, I am acting for several clients of our fast-growing academies practice.

What do others say?

I was delighted with a recent comment by one of Birmingham's most high profile players in the construction industry, with whom I have worked on and off for many years: "Now Caroline is real quality!"

Similarly, I was very pleased when a director of a newer public sector client said of me recently: "Caroline has acted with the highest professional standards, going above and beyond the call of duty on many occasions in order to protect her client's position."

What else should you know?

According to Chambers UK, our construction team has "succeeded in making a significant impression upon the Midlands construction market in a relatively short space of time" and our clients single out our "personable approach".

Our construction team at Mills & Reeve also writes an engineering and construction blog called Practical Completion. In addition to this, I contribute to our team's quarterly publication, Building Blocks, as well as to various other publications that specifically target our education, health, local authority and real estate clients.
