What can I do for you?
I specialise in advising private clients on their tax, trusts and estates. This involves advice on inheritance and capital gains tax planning and also helping to protect family assets and to place them in suitable structures for future generations. My clients include the owners of large landed estates as well as charities and business people, and I have a particular expertise in advising elderly clients. I often act as an executor and trustee for my clients, who may be based in the UK or overseas.
Supporting my clients’ aims
I really enjoy helping my clients to achieve their aims, be it minimising a tax liability or arranging their affairs to ensure effective succession planning. For example, we recently helped a family business to restructure prior to a sale. This not only helped to reduce the tax burden but also enabled members of the family to provide for future generations each in their own way.
What do others say about me?
We are delighted that our team has been recognised at a number of industry awards, but I am most proud when our clients are positive about our contribution to their affairs. One client recently told me that he was grateful for the work we had done and that he “always trusted Mills & Reeve to get it right.”
I have also been recognised as a leading lawyer by Citywealth as well as in Legal 500, where I am described as a "creative thinker".
What else should you know?
I sit on our Making a Difference committee, which looks after the firm's corporate social responsibility, and I am a trustee of national charity The Silver Line and local charity the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation. I am also Chairman of Solicitors for the Elderly, a national organisation of solicitors dedicated to advising elderly and vulnerable clients, and I have written articles and lectured on elder client issues. I like to keep up to date with social media and you can follow me on Twitter using the button below my photo on the right of this page or find me at www.twitter.com/pc_lawyer.
