What can I do for you?

I specialise in planning law, and have over 25 years' experience of major planning cases, such as Canary Wharf, Kings Cross, Cambourne New Settlement, Whatley Quarry, and Rookery South, the first ever application to the Infrastructure Planning Commission. I have worked on projects of all sizes and have particular expertise in minerals planning.

Supporting my clients’ ambitions

Our clients' ambitions are usually to win and to secure their position. For over 25 years, I have helped many clients to achieve their goals in planning. After securing planning permission for Canary Wharf in 1986, I worked on a number of minerals cases, successfully obtaining permission for highly controversial developments. I led the legal team for Stanhope when they sought planning permission for what is now Cambourne and more recently I advised Bee Bee on their application for a 5,500 dwelling extension to Kettering, London Luton Airport on the expansion of Stevenage, landowners on the 4,500 dwelling expansion of Daventry and the host authorities on the Rookery South 65MW Energy from Waste facility under the Planning Act 2008.

What else should you know?

I am the Chair of The Law Society’s Planning and Environmental Law Committee and a member of The Law Society’s Planning Panel. I have written the odd book on planning law and you can find articles by me in the Journal of Planning and Environmental Law. I am a draftsman of The Law Society's Model section 106 agreement.

My team publishes a monthly e-newsletter called FuturePerfect?, which gives an update on interesting planning related topics. (To download the latest copy of this or any of our other publications, see the "Publications and updates" section on the right of this page.) We also write Plan-it Law, a blog that will enable us to give you our comments on recent developments and hopefully hear some of yours too.
