With a spread of lawyers across London, Birmingham, Norwich, Manchester and Leeds, we act for around forty Lloyd’s and London market insurers, as well as their insureds. We have the resources and expertise to deal with a range of problems.
Specific experience includes the following:
- Advising underwriters on coverage issues and monitoring the defence of a US$30,000,000 claim arising out of allegedly wrongful and dishonest trading of copper by commodity brokers
- Advising a bank in relation to a potential claim arising out of an employee’s dishonesty and in relation to SFO interviews of various employees
- Advising underwriters and the insured bank in relation to a claim against an investment manager for negligently overlooking the tax consequences of various transactions
- Advising underwriters upon coverage issues in relation to the defence of claims arising under Securities and Futures Industry Policies (and directly)
- Advising underwriters upon a claim made against an insured arising out of a large error in a share transaction
- Investigating potential claims against a financial regulator by various action groups arising out of the collapse of a large insurance company
- Advising upon a claim brought against a pension administrator for alleged negligent advice as to entitlement on retirement, where there was a conflict between the strict legal position and the guidance to the pension administrator from the relevant government department
