What can I do for you?
I am a partner in the health team. With over 12 years’ experience advising health bodies, I am committed to supporting my clients find robust pragmatic solutions to complex legal issues. I have particular expertise advising on commissioning, contracting, governance, funding, priorities and procurement issues. I can also help you on the implementation of policy and on collaborative projects with other public sector bodies and commercial entities.
Supporting my clients’ objectives
I have considerable knowledge and expertise of the NHS both at a national and local level. My approach is to use this understanding to support and guide clients to pragmatic outcomes that are lawful but also right for them.
A recent example of this is advising a client on the format and approach of its exceptional funding panel in light of recent central government policy. Drawing on my knowledge of legal developments over a number of years and accountability and assurance within NHS bodies, I have been able to support my clients in putting in place a robust framework that is clear to patients, supports decision making and reassures the board.
What do others say?
Leading a team of 12 lawyers, I ensure we build lasting relationships with our clients. Commitment and enthusiasm of the entire team underpins our success. This means we receive frequent feedback commending the team for its expertise and approach, timeliness, ability to meet the most challenging of deadlines and a cost effective service. Our aim is to provide outstanding client service so that all work could be commented on as follows: “As ever thanks very much for your detailed and considered advice this is very helpful”.
What else should you know?
For more than 20 years I have been involved in the third sector as an employee and then as a trustee of various charities. I am currently on the board of Cambridge Women and Homelessness Group and a lay representative on a PCT's Exceptional Cases Panel. This work is helpful for my clients as it keeps me up to date on the wider health and social care agenda. I also write and lecture extensively on health legal and policy matters.
