The recent Health White Paper confirmed that a large proportion of commissioning will soon be carried out by GPs. Currently, the plans are in the early stages of development but PCTs and consortia will need to move quickly to achieve the transition within the government's proposed timescales. At the same time, much of the contractual and statutory framework within which the NHS operates will have to change to accommodate this major policy shift.
This seminar will look at:
- the latest developments around GP commissioning;
- the key legal and policy issues to be addressed in moving to GP commissioning;
- what transferring hard budgets to GPs means in practice;
- legal structures for transferring budgets to early implementers; and
- models for addressing risk and reward.
This seminar will be relevant to those involved in commissioning, directors of finance and non executive directors.
