Your challenges
Life in the NHS never stands still and sometimes there seems to be no end to the many and varied situations that can arise. Patients are with you 24/7 and present a cornucopia of interesting issues that you have to tackle. Often they are sensitive, time critical, challenging (both ethically and clinically) as well as newsworthy. You need lawyers who can help you however novel, urgent or unusual your questions may be.
Achieving your ambitions
Whatever your queries are, we will have someone with the expertise to work with you to reach a sensible, practical and cost effective solution. For example, NHS bodies have to manage a huge range of ethical issues, including consent, refusal or cessation of treatment, reproductive and genetic policies and organs and transplantation. We can support you with swift, informed guidance to enable you to make the right judgements in high pressure situations.
Please see our other web pages on topics such as children's law, consent, confidentiality, best interests, judicial reviews, inquests, mental health, continuing healthcare, incidents and investigations, health and safety, list management and priorities.
The strength you need
We have three partners and over 25 healthcare lawyers ready and able to assist you in our offices in Birmingham, Cambridge, London and Norwich.
We have lawyers who have worked in NHS trusts in the past, who work there on secondments now, who have worked at Cafcass or have previously undertaken clinical negligence, employer's liability and public liability work.
We act for over 100 NHS bodies including acute trusts, mental health trusts, ambulance trusts, foundation trusts and primary care trusts. We also work with emerging CCGs.
Together, we can work on anything from drafting preliminary assessments for initial claim reporting to risk management issues. We can also help with managing patient complaints, dealing with media enquiries and any other patient related issues.
