In a global market, we expect to assist our clients wherever they do business. We also represent many overseas clients. Our lawyers have been involved in international transactions for our clients in over 60 different jurisdictions in the last two years.
Resources
We have a network of trusted advisers in most countries around the world. Our international offering is significantly enhanced through membership of the State Capital Group*, which provides ready access to around 12,000 lawyers in a global network of more than 140 leading independent law firms in 160 jurisdictions. We have developed relationships of mutual trust and commitment with these firms over many years. We can refer to and work with whichever firm best meets the requirements of our clients.
Experience
Many of our lawyers are fluent in other languages, including French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Mandarin and Urdu. Many of our lawyers also have experience of practising in other jurisdictions including China, India and the USA. This means that we are more familiar with the system in other jurisdictions and many of the important cultural differences which apply. Our lawyers participate in reciprocal secondments and training programmes with State Capital Group firms to ensure we understand different cultural and commercial needs to help our clients navigate a complex and ever changing legal landscape.
Our China group and India group have strong connections in China and India with broad experience in technology, corporate, real estate and university related transactions.
Recent examples of our international experience include:
- Advising a global corporate group based in the Netherlands on their joint venture with a US-based group to establish a UK joint venture company for operation in the flower seeds market
- Assisting and advising a US parent company on the acquisition of a software business by its UK subsidiary as part of a wider business acquisition by the US parent
