What can I do for you?
I’m a specialist in the complex but rapidly changing area of contracts between third sector providers, voluntary organisations and health bodies, as well as local authority and health body partnership working. My work includes helping clients, such as primary care trusts and other NHS bodies, with commissioning and provision of services. As part of our busy specialist team, I also advise on issues emerging from corporate and clinical governance in the NHS.
I have recently been involved in advising on a number of business transfer agreements for the transfer of primary care trust provider services to other health bodies and social enterprises, as well as continuing to advise on complex Section 75 partnership arrangements and agreements for both health bodies and local authorities.
Supporting my clients’ aims and objectives
A real highlight for me was the work we did for South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust in drafting and advising on the first independent user trust contract between a health body and a not for profit company created to provide care and services from carers that the patient's parents had chosen for their daughter's care. This was an innovative and challenging piece of work, which was very satisfying. We were able to conclude a mutually beneficial contract for the trust and their client while also saving the health body money by commissioning services at a cheaper rate than would otherwise have been possible.
What do others say?
One of the most common things we hear is that our team is approachable and friendly. But my favourite comments come from clients. We recently helped a health trust with a pharmaceutical services contract and I received a card from the trust, which said “Your input into our pharmacy contract made my life a whole lot easier.”
What else should you know?
I previously worked as a registered nurse for a number of years prior to becoming a solicitor. This is helpful in allowing me to understand my clients' needs and anticipate any practical problems that may arise within contracts as well as the legal issues.
