What can I do for you?
I specialise in tax, trusts and estates work for private clients and have dual qualification as a solicitor and chartered tax adviser. My work includes advising across a range of private client and tax related matters for individuals, trusts, charities and family owned businesses. I have a particular interest in tax planning, particularly in relation to property backed businesses, agricultural assets, heritage property and offshore work.
Supporting my client’s aims?
I really enjoy working with clients to help them to achieve their objectives. It is great to be able to use the knowledge and experience I have acquired as a tax lawyer over the last 25 years to good effect by working with clients to find effective solutions to the issues they face.
The range of clients, ever changing tax regime and fluidity of the client’s own position and objectives combine to make the work both challenging and rewarding. The aspect of my job which gives me greatest pleasure is the opportunity it provides to interact and work with people with widely differing interests and experience.
What do others say about me?
Clients have been kind enough to remark that they "feel in safe hands" when working with me and that I "know what I am talking about". I have been consistently recommended in Legal 500 and Chambers for private client, charities and agricultural work. In 2008 I won the Yorkshire Lawyer Private Client Lawyer of the Year award.
In Chambers I have been described by clients as "frighteningly good" and "admired for [my] knowledge of business and agricultural property reliefs". Most recently I have been described as "prized for [my] advice on tax, trusts and wider private client work" and "praised for technical abilities and friendly manner". I am "efficient and good to do business with" and "set the benchmark for standards".
I have recently been described in Citywealth as "a first class advisor who has time and again provided superb advice which has proven to be invaluable to long term tax planning arrangements and structures whilst taking into full consideration the particular family circumstances at that time".
