What can I do for you?

I am a specialist family law solicitor and experienced collaborative lawyer. I joined our Mills & Reeve family team in 2001.

I have experience in all family matters and advise clients on numerous issues including divorce, financial provision and cohabitation disputes. I have acted for clients in a wide variety of cases from those involving substantial assets and complex issues such as family businesses (including farms) to those with more modest assets.

Supporting my clients’ aims

I understand that relationship breakdown is a difficult and stressful time for everyone involved including any children. I therefore endeavour to guide and advise my client through the legal process for separation in a client focused, understanding and sensitive way. I will listen carefully to my client’s aims and objectives at the outset and through their case. I aim to advise them clearly, concisely and cost effectively through the options available to them and to provide them with creative and practical solutions.

Most of my cases are resolved by negotiation whether this is through the collaborative law process or by negotiating directly with the solicitor acting for the spouse of my client. In some cases where this is not possible and the involvement of the court may be required, I am able to draw on my extensive litigation experience.

What do others say about me?

At Mills & Reeve we pride ourselves on giving excellent, clear advice tailored to the individual needs of our clients. In addition, Chambers UK describes us as “becoming a truly national player for family matters”, whilst “clients appreciate the team’s practical, problem-solving approach and suggest that this is one way in which Mills & Reeve differentiates itself from its competitors”.

What else should you know?

I am a member of Resolution and a trained collaborative lawyer. I was a founding member of Cambridge Collaborative Family Law Group and continue to be a member.

I live in central Cambridge, have two young children and play an active part in my local community. I set up the Cambridge Free Legal Advice Group (FLAG) in 2004, which aims to provide a legal advice service for those individuals who require legal advice but who would not otherwise be able to access or afford it. I am a Trustee of Ace Nursery School, Parkside, Cambridge and a member of its parents’ committee.

Within my team, we also run a website called www.divorce.co.uk, which offers free advice to individuals on all aspects of relationship breakdown.
