We are delighted to announce that Anna Turney, who is being supported by Mills & Reeve, has made a major advancement in her quest for gold at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games by winning her first two medals!
At the weekend (6 February) Anna won her first medal, a "silver" in the Super G and achieved fourth place in the Downhill at the North American Cup held at Kimberly USA. This continues Anna's remarkable progress after she was paralysed in a snowboarding accident just three years ago and only joined the British Disabled Ski Team in May 2008. It was Anna's first time on the podium and provides the perfect platform for the World Championships in Korea later this month.
Anna is, needless to say, delighted with her first silver medal and commenting on her fantastic achievement said "the fog came down and visibility was terrible in the Super G but I made it!"
Anna, now "hungry for metal" followed her silver medal with a bronze in the Giant Slalom yesterday (10 February) at the North American Cup race in Park City, Utah. Anna is hoping for more success in the slalom. Then it's on to Korea for the 2009 World Championships, which start on 19 February.
Anna needs about £10,000 a season if she is to continue competing at this level and improve her chances of winning more medals. To make it to the Paralympics will take even more money. You can follow Anna's progress on her website
