We recently advised offshore engineering firm, 3Sun, in acquiring a majority stake in a wind turbine servicing firm. James Hunter, a corporate partner at Mills & Reeve, led the team working on the deal with support from Alex Kenworthy, Danielle Gibson and Harriett Brennan.
Great Yarmouth-based 3Sun, which provides a range of instrumentation and controls services in the offshore energy sector, has taken a 75pc shareholding in Scottish firm Dawson Energy, one of the UK's leading providers of technicians to install and service wind turbines. The acquisition is a major move by 3Sun into the offshore wind energy sector.
3Sun, set up in 2007, works with customers ranging from multinationals like Petrofac and Shell to smaller businesses in the east of England servicing the southern north sea, and operates in countries including Angola, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Malta.
