A top team of our education, employment, corporate and real estate lawyers has won a prestigious contract to advise Equality Challenge Unit.
The deal, won through a competitive tender, involves advising the high profile organisation on a whole range of legal issues, particularly those connected with equal opportunities.
Mills & Reeve partner Nicola Brown, who specialises in employment issues for universities, led the firm's 13-strong team to win the contract.
"This is a very significant new client and we are delighted to have been chosen to work with ECU," she said. "There are many complex issues in the areas of equality and diversity particularly with the Equality Bill on the agenda and we are looking forward to being at the forefront of these issues with ECU."
ECU, set up to promote equality and diversity in higher education, works in partnership with Higher Education Institutions and sector organisations, providing practical support and guidance, and working on research.
Sue Cavanagh, Deputy Chief Executive of ECU said: "We are very happy to announce the appointment of Mills & Reeve as legal advisers to ECU. The firm's experience of working in the higher education sector, combined with their knowledge of equality and diversity issues will be invaluable as we continue to support the sector to work through the implications of the Equality Bill and other equality legislation."
