What can I do for you?
I lead our compulsory purchase team and act for a wide range of clients split evenly between public bodies seeking to acquire land compulsorily and those seeking compensation because they are affected by compulsory purchase. My knowledge and understanding of the process from a claimant’s and acquiring authority’s perspectives means that I can advise each comprehensively.
If you are claiming compensation I can act for you in securing a good outcome. If you are promoting a compulsory purchase order I can help you navigate the complicated procedural rules and law to help you acquire the land you need to bring forward your development.
Supporting my clients’ ambitions
I help to recover compensation for individuals, agricultural landowners, town centre retail occupiers (including acting for Optical Express against Birmingham City Council), SME business occupiers, small businesses. Universities and not-for-profit clubs and other organisations.
My experience also includes acting for local authorities and other public bodies in promoting compulsory purchase orders, ranging from single properties to major mixed use schemes in Dagenham and Newham.
What do others say?

In addition, “Mills & Reeve LLP acts for over 70 local authorities, among them the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Newham and Tower Hamlets. The team ‘inspires high confidence’, and is led by the ‘excellent’ Nathan Holden".
