What can I do for you?

I’m a specialist in the agriculture and estates sector. My work includes helping a diverse range of clients, including utility companies universities and individual landowners, negotiate a wide range of legal documentation. This includes buying and selling small parcels of land to large agricultural estates, which can involve residential or commercial property. As part of one of the UK’s largest and most successful agricultural practices, I also advise on issues ranging from single farm payment entitlements, specialist farm business tenancies and agricultural tenancies, to easements, wayleaves and mines and minerals.

Supporting my clients’ objectives

A real highlight for me was the work we did on a multimillion-pound project, involving purchasing a large area of primarily agricultural land then letting some of it back on farm business tenancies, leases and assured shorthold tenancies. The deal involved a large number of personnel and so the reports had to be tailored to enable each individual to manage their part of the project. By listening to what the client wanted, we ensured that we delivered the information in a way that helped the individual focus on their element of the project and ultimately saved them time and money.

What do others say?

One of the most common things we hear is that our team is approachable and friendly. Legal 500 also says that our team has “personality and imagination and willingness to provide solutions.” But my favourite comments come directly from clients who I work with on a daily basis, where the most satisfying comment is simply “thanks Nichola … excellent service”.

What else should you know?

I currently edit Farm Water Bulletin, which is helpful for keeping my clients informed about developments with water legislation and changing methods of irrigation. We also produce a quarterly agricultural newsletter by e-mail, Agriculture and Estates Briefing, which contains short articles on topical issues and is designed for those with an interest in the agricultural sector but with limited time to read about it! If you are interested, please email me.
