Description
In the high pressure world of offender healthcare, fire fighting the issue of the day often takes up valuable management resources. As a result there can be little time to remove the fireman’s overalls and actively consider the potential gaps, through which vulnerable patients can fall. Whilst, rightly, a lot of time and resource goes into looking at improvements that can be made after the death of a prisoner; with a myriad of separate healthcare organisations managing a wide variety of prisoner populations, it can be difficult to share experiences and ensure that lessons are learnt only once.
