What can I do for you?
I manage the trust team, overseeing the administration of around 270 family trusts, and specialise in all aspects of trust accountancy, taxation and administration. Having joined Mills & Reeve in 1989, I have a great deal of experience in the preparation of accounts and related tax compliance work. I specialise in inheritance tax issues concerning relevant property trusts. In addition to the completion of inheritance tax returns, I also provide advice to accountants and clients regarding available reliefs and the calculation of tax. As an experienced landlord I can advise clients on taxation and compliance issues relating to property businesses. To ensure that we continue to provide an accurate, efficient and good value service to our clients, I have led the development of IT systems to reproduce Revenue approved forms linked to bespoke accounting systems.
Supporting my clients’ objectives
I was particularly pleased to help one of our clients who had been involved with a family trust for a number of years. The trustees had not taken professional advice and there was a dispute with one of the beneficiary. By completing backdated accounts over a seven year period, reallocating property expenses and addressing taxation issues, I was able to procure a successful outcome for our client.
I was involved in another interesting case where a trust was being brought to an end in two parts immediately before the first 10 year anniversary. By claiming the appropriate reliefs and careful timing of events, I was able to save the client a significant amount of tax.
What do others say?
Many of my long standing trust clients have become friends, and I know they appreciate the personal and bespoke service offered by each member of the team. New trust clients who come to us in a muddle are very thankful and relieved when the problems are resolved. This is a comment from one of my new clients “thank you very much for all your work on our family trust. Without your very clear trust accounts I think we would still be sorting things out now!”.
