I specialise in resolving disputes of all kinds including professional negligence claims against construction professionals, media professionals, brokers, IFAs, lawyers and trustees, as well as major commercial disputes. I have over 25 years substantial experience of court proceedings, arbitration (domestic and international) and ADR.
Supporting my clients’ objectives
I recently defended a claim against a prominent firm of brokers, following the denial of tax relief claimed by investors in four British films and the subsequent avoidance of tax indemnity policies in respect of each film. I had to analyse a substantial amount of documentation relating to the placement of cover, consider complex tax legislation and reconstruct the circumstances at the time of placement to put forward a robust response and defence. The matter settled on a purely commercial basis for a fraction of the amount claimed, saving substantial expenditure on costs. We celebrated with fish and chips in the Isle of Wight!
