What can I do for you?
As head of both our projects team and our aerospace and defence team, I’m a specialist in leading complex projects. Many of these are PFI and PPP projects, but I also advise on other long-term partnering contracts between the public and private sectors.
I guide clients such as central government departments, NHS trusts, universities and private sector consortia through bidding processes and I draft and negotiate the detailed contracts. I also act for funders of large projects.
I get a real buzz from giving clients outstanding client service at a much lower cost than that offered by City of London firms.
Supporting my clients’ objectives
Recently, I advised the Ministry of Defence on two long-term contracts for the maintenance and support of Harrier and Typhoon aircraft. The contracts totalled over £1 billion. My team helped resolve the legal and commercial issues. We were praised by both our client and the private sector partner, BAE Systems, on our constructive and commercial approach, driving the projects to a conclusion through focused negotiations.
What do others say?
I am one of only two lawyers based outside London to be in the top ranks of the Chambers UK legal directory and Chambers Global 2012 for projects work. The Legal 500 and Chambers UK have described me as a “quality lawyer” and a “fantastic negotiator who never upsets anybody and always gets what he wants”.
My team has a reputation for being very friendly, constructive and commercial. The Legal 500 says we have “very good sector knowledge – better than most competitors”.
A client recently commented: “Never before have we achieved so much in such a short timeframe. We could not have achieved this fantastic result without you.”
What else should you know?
I belong to the Society of Construction Law and also speak at national conferences on defence, construction, procurement and PFI issues.
