What can I do for you?
Working within our banking and finance team, I specialise in real estate finance work, advising the major high street lenders and other types of funders on facilities secured against investment properties and development sites. I also act for property investor clients on a regular basis in funding their acquisitions or refinancing their portfolios.
My experience includes advising on insolvency related property issues.
Supporting my clients’ objectives
Job satisfaction for me comes from making what can be complex legal procedures seem simple and straightforward. This can often be achieved by striking up a good working relationship with the lawyers acting for the funder/borrower.
This approach was very effective recently when I worked as part of a team with my real estate colleagues in the drawdown of facilities for the acquisition of two shopping centres by an investor client. The deadlines were tight and issues inevitably arose but we managed to deal with each of them quickly and efficiently, assisted by the relationship we had built up with the bank’s lawyers.
Establishing a good rapport with “the other side” on finance transactions is made easier due to the reputation of our banking capability within the marketplace.
What do others say?
The client for whom we acted on the transaction highlighted above thanked us “for the helpful and thoroughly professional and efficient manner in which the matter was dealt with”.
Another client commented at the end of a rather difficult funding transaction: “I know you put in that extra effort to achieve this goal and [we] are very appreciative.”
What else should you know?
I am a regular contributor to some of our publications, such as Hot Property and Building Blocks, and have had articles published in Business Weekly and the Eastern Daily Press. I also often contribute a banking angle to our seasonal real estate seminar series.
