What can I do for you?
I am a solicitor who specialises in a wide range of healthcare related work with particular interest in matters relating to mental health, mental capacity and regulatory proceedings under the Health and Social Care Act 2008. Frequently the situations in which my advice is sought are urgent or fast moving and I find that, while a good knowledge of the law is essential, it must be coupled with an ability to find a practical and sensitive solution.
I am an experienced advocate, particularly in relation to providing representation at hearings before First Tier Tribunals and at inquests involving the deaths of detained patients or prisoners. I also have extensive experience of advising clients on all aspects of investigations and claims arising from accidents or incidents, including claims relating to asbestos exposure.
Supporting my clients’ aims
I have represented various NHS trusts at inquests and tribunal hearings in relation to patient matters. My role involved not only undertaking the advocacy at the hearings but also supporting the staff required to attend as witnesses. Such hearings can be daunting, even for witnesses attending in a professional capacity. My clients have appreciated the help that I have been able to give with their preparation and in providing encouragement and support at the hearing.
I have also worked with a number of healthcare clients to provide bespoke, practical training packages to their professional staff on the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act.
