What can I do for you?
I’m a specialist employment lawyer with substantial experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters. My work includes helping clients – such as NHS trusts, further education colleges and commercial organisations – deal with tricky employment situations ranging from performance management, termination, restructuring exercises and variation of contract to providing support on corporate transactions, including advising on TUPE.
In addition, I also have considerable employment litigation experience. My recent experience spans resisting equal pay back pay claims.
Supporting my clients’ objectives
A real highlight for me was working with a fledgling company with a view to helping them to understand the implications of employment law. I drafted all their policies and contracts, provided frequent ad hoc advice and offered strategic advice to force departures and avoid tribunal claims. From time to time, I called upon the assistance of my corporate or commercial litigation colleagues to ensure that our client received the most appropriate advice on every issue raised.
The experience was very rewarding for both parties as I now feel that the company is well equipped to deal with employee relation issues and our client now has the confidence to rely on the procedures that we have implemented and the advice I have given. Hopefully they won’t now need to call me so often – a great outcome for them, at least financially!
What do others say?
As a team, we are client focused and therefore the most valuable comments come from our clients. In particular, we are repeatedly praised for our sector specific knowledge and our ability to understand our client organisation’s jargon and the idiosyncrasies of how they operate.
Employment law can be an employer’s minefield. However, we are often praised for being able to explain complex legal issues in plain English and for delivering sensible and pragmatic advice.
What else should you know?
Employment law changes rapidly and dramatically. By being members of the Employment Lawyers Association and other similar groups, we ensure that we stay up to date. You can ensure that your employment law knowledge remains current by enquiring about our extensive training and seminar programme and publications (see the “Events and seminars” and “Publications and updates” sections on the right of this page).
