First and foremost, I thrive on understanding businesses in all different types of sectors and bring a commercial common sense approach to helping my clients carve their way through business giving legal effect to the commercial arrangements necessary to achieve their goals.
I advise on a range of deal driven commercial arrangements including supply chain management, routes to market and outsourcing together with niche areas such as advertising and sport. I invest myself in each of my clients' businesses and trading sectors to understand the unique idiosyncrasies and commercial needs of each. This approach allows me to offer genuine benefit. Most importantly, it means that my team is very proactive in assisting clients to gain competitive advantage by helping them manage business risk more effectively, bringing to market new goods and services, exploiting their brands and engineering new markets.

I’m a commercial lawyer, first and foremost because I enjoy managing deal driven commercial arrangements and helping businesses reach solutions with a pragmatic approach. I’m very passionate about that and that reflects in my entire approach.
My work across different sectors allows me to bring an innovative approach to helping clients reach their objectives. For example, in a recent outsourcing deal, having an understanding of the key drivers from both the supplier's and the customer's perspective meant that we were able to achieve a workable outcome in a short timescale to meet the commercial goals of our client. From working in-house, I understand how important it is never to lose sight of the client’s needs and this approach means that our team becomes a valuable addition to the client's business and offers tangible value.

What else should you know?
I have spent a significant portion of my career working as a lawyer within businesses. I was legal adviser at the global organisation, Alstom, and have completed several key secondments including with Northgate Information Solutions, Accenture, IMI plc and Siemens plc. This in-house experience means that I have a genuine insight into what businesses want from their lawyers and understand the importance of providing pragmatic and commercial advice to address the key drivers of the business. Knowing what clients want from their external lawyers means that we add value quickly and ensure that the commercial imperatives are met with solutions driven advice.
