What can I do for you?

As a City qualified lawyer with over 20 years experience, I am responsible for supporting the work of our corporate lawyers. That involves regularly updating my colleagues on legal and market developments in the corporate and corporate finance fields. As well as writing for a number of the firm's newsletters, I produce briefings for clients and external publications, prepare and give seminars for the firm’s clients and contacts and support corporate marketing initiatives. Maintaining our standard documents also falls within my remit, as does helping our corporate lawyers with knotty research problems. By doing these things, I help our corporate teams to deliver the best possible service to their clients.

Supporting our clients

We think it’s vital to share the knowledge developed by our professional support lawyers with our clients. Currently much of my time is spent on the Companies Act 2006 that introduced the biggest shake-up in corporate law for a generation. As one of the longest Acts ever passed, my role involves guiding our lawyers and clients through this legal maze. I’ve written and spoken extensively on the Act and delivered training to a wide variety of clients and contacts. These include members of our In-House Legal Forum, local company secretarial groups, in house teams at listed companies such as Aviva and Xaar and at many large privately owned companies. I also produce our regular e-bulletins on What you need to know about the Companies Act 2006, which focus on key topics and highlight action that your company and directors need to take.

What do others say?

According to Chambers UK, our corporate teams are “Head and shoulders above the rest” of the competition and our clients acclaim our “advice that is perfectly tailored to [their] business aims”. I think this comes through in the briefings and training that we do for our clients – we take highly complex issues, make them understandable and put them in the relevant business context

What else should you know?

I am a member of Networking for Know-How (a countrywide network for corporate professional support lawyers). This enables me to exchange ideas and news with colleagues from other firms and helps keep me up to date.
