Background

In recent years, law firms have been experiencing market disruption from a variety of sources including client-led price pressure, new market entrants, technology (particularly artificial intelligence) and new business models that move away from traditional service delivery models. Mills & Reeve are developing strategies and tactics to respond to these market challenges. The 2025 vision to be 'Leader in Client Experience' supported by leadership in sectors and markets, people experience and innovation, puts clients firmly at the centre of that strategy. The firm has identified that having a well-defined and managed digital & data strategy will be key to the delivery of this vision. It also recognises that digital is different from an Information Technology (IT) strategy, with IT being part of a broader digital strategy supported by a data strategy. The collection, storage and use of data requires an aligned strategy. Mills & Reeve currently has several digital projects in progress.  These include the migration of client facing digital channel (websites and extranets) to a single CMS platform, the development of a range of legal services products and experimenting with business analytics software such as PowerBI with many other projects underway or in the pipeline. With constrained resourcing, accentuated by Covid-19, and the need to introduce the latest developments in these areas,  the firm recognises that there is now a need for a Director of Digital & Data Strategy.##
