Making construction law simpler and easier

We act for every type of company in the construction sector, and our team is big enough to cope with any project or dispute – no matter how complex.

This means that, whatever challenges you might be facing, we are experienced enough to have seen most things before. If we haven’t, we are quick to think of a solution.

We take care to understand your goals and why they matter, and our aim is always to achieve the result that works best for you. We provide pragmatic, down-to-earth advice that really answers your questions, and our clients praise us for being personable and easy to deal with.

We also pride ourselves on helping you to keep your costs down.

Our construction lawyers

  • We offer you a dedicated team of 20 construction lawyers specialising in construction, procurement and projects work.
  • We are active participants in a range of professional and trade bodies including the Technology and Construction Solicitors Association, the Society for Construction Law, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Adjudication Society, the Forum for the Built Environment and the Cambridge Forum for the Construction Industry. These links help us to remain on top of the latest legal issues – which we in turn keep you informed about through our construction law blog and our seminar series – and give us a platform to contribute to any debate at both a regional and national level.

Our construction law experience

  • Each year, we help clients to procure building projects with a capital value of over £1 billion.
  • We are equally at ease advising on any of the industry standard forms or bespoke contracts.
  • When negotiating contracts, we understand that it is your deal and not ours.
  • We are equally skilled at dealing with complicated disputes and smaller ones – you will get the right team for the problem.
  • We have the resources and expertise to take the right steps to meet deadlines required in adjudication.
  • We will help you to run a procurement process that complies with the rules, proactively dealing with any procurement challenges.
  • Some recent examples of our work include:
  • Creating the construction environment for Urban & Civic’s Alconbury Weald project (1,400 acres of developable land north of Huntingdon at the former Alconbury Airfield). The substantial project is set to create 8,000 jobs and 5,000 new homes over the next 25 years.
  • Delivering 3,000 rooms of state of the art, high specification student accommodation, a sports pitch, support services and related facilities to Aston University on its £215 million project for the phased redevelopment of its entire student residential estate.
