2018 update to the National Framework for NHS Continuing Healthcare and NHS Funded Nursing Care goes live on 1 October – are you ready?

Earlier this year the revised National Framework for NHS Continuing Healthcare and NHS Funded Nursing Care was published. CCGs and providers have until 1 October 2018 to adopt the new rules.

When published we were told that it was intended to:

  • provide greater clarity to individuals and staff through a new structure and style
  • reflect legislative changes since the 2012 National Framework was published, primarily to reflect the implementation of the Care Act 2014
  • clarify a number of policy areas from setting out that the majority of CHC assessments should take place outside of acute hospital settings to clarifying that the main purpose of three and 12 month reviews is to review the appropriateness of the care package.
