What can I do for you?

I specialise in advising UK and international individuals and families with their estate planning. My clients are typically entrepreneurs, business owners, professionals and wealthy individuals. My work often involves advising on wealth protection and minimising inheritance tax and capital gains tax. This tends to include the use of wills, trusts, family investment companies, family charters and powers of attorney. I also act as a trustee and executor for a number of clients and supervise the administration of a wide variety of trusts and estates.

Dealing with international issues is a common feature of my work, including residence and domicile matters and property abroad. I am a member of our international services team and Head up our Australasian Desk. I work closely with other lawyers and accountants in Australia and New Zealand and have developed strong relationships with 'best friend' firms.

Supporting my clients’ aims

One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is getting to know my clients. Every client is different and it is essential to properly understand your client's aims in order to give the best advice. In all cases I will look to come up with flexible, tax efficient and protective solutions and I tend to steer clients away from the aggressive schemes that are marketed and all too often fail. In an increasingly complicated area I strive to deliver clear and practical advice.

What do others say?

One of my clients recently commented, “John is personable, prompt, contactable, pragmatic and extremely knowledgeable. He gives a first rate service."  Another advised in a recent client feedback survey that, "John Grundy gives very clear guidance. It is the practicality of the advice that is impressive; it is not just the theory but also practical”.

I am ranked personally by the independent legal directories, Chambers UK and Legal 500
