Kirsten Wilkins

Senior Associate

What can I do for you

Kirsten advises individuals and trustees on a range of estate planning, taxation and succession issues.

Within the team, Kirsten has particular expertise advising on philanthropy and charity law. This extends to the creation, administration and governance of charitable structures; to include, charitable trusts, charitable incorporated organisations and charitable companies.

Supporting your ambitions

Kirsten works closely with clients to understand their long term objectives. This often involves working with multiple generations of the same family to manage the succession of family wealth, taking into account tax efficiency and the protection of assets. Kirsten advises on the use of trust structures and provides tailored advice to match the specific needs of each client.

Where clients have charitable objectives, Kirsten incorporates this into their wider estate planning, maximising tax efficiency and charity assets (through the use of Gift Aid and the timing donations across different tax years). Kirsten works with clients to consider the suitability of gifting different assets, such as cash, shares in private companies and property.

Many of Kirsten's clients retain other professional advisors (such as accountants and financial planners), and she often works closely with them to provide comprehensive and holistic advice.

What else should you know

Kirsten is an accredited civil and commercial mediator, and uses these skills to help clients navigate often complex and challenging family dynamics.

I can't thank them enough for getting us through some really tough times and doing so with an amazing can-do attitude.
  • They are friendly, fast, always available and always on top of the game. I tend to judge my legal team against the other side's legal team and never doubt Mills & Reeve is the better of the two.
  • All interactions have been very clear. Responses to questions have always been very swift and unambiguous. Our company, and my family, have used various services in Mills & Reeve with the same level of satisfaction.
  • I value the fact that Mills & Reeve are recognised as a good place to work in the UK Best Companies survey. This aligns with the values of our business and means that Mills & Reeve can share what is required to achieve this status with our business.
