  • New Head of Asset Management role
    We are pleased to announce that Dominic Hordern has been appointed to the newly created role of Head of Asset Management at Mills & Reeve. The role will champion best practice in asset management across the firm, providing focused support to our clients as they strive to realise maximum value from their portfolios.

    As a real estate investment specialist with more than 15 years’ experience providing asset management services to a range of investors, Dominic will proactively explore and identify the legal, commercial and service challenges facing asset management in the real estate investment market to enable us to help clients realise best value from their income streams and to meet our goal of being a leading provider to actively managed funds.

  • Direct investments
    Acquiring and disposing of significant and complex investment assets including the purchases of The O2 at Greenwich, 26 Red Lion Square London from Legal & General Property for £85.1 million and a portfolio of seven industrial estates for £50 million.

  • Corporate structures
    Acquiring and disposing of assets held in on and off shore corporate structures including the acquisition of Beehive Shopping Park in Cambridge from British Land for £109 million the sale of Aldgate House for £100 million to a Hermes joint venture and the sale of Marble Arch Tower W1 for £79 million to Almacantar.

    Advising clients on indirect property investment vehicles including two separate joint venture long leasehold portfolios of Tesco Stores valued at £440 million and £490 million respectively.

  • Alternative assets
    Working with clients to enable investment in alternative assets including student accommodation, education assets, health care and rural property. Recent deals include acting for a major US REIT on its acquisition of a portfolio of private hospitals in the UK for over £100 million, the acquisition of the agricultural business arm of the Co-operative Group for £249 million and the acquisition of four student accommodation schemes for £77 million in Manchester and Liverpool for a Singaporean Investor.

  • Forward funding
    Advising on forward funding of developments including this year the purchase of One The Square, a 142,662 sq ft building outside Cambridge station and the largest forward funding of a speculative development in Cambridge.

  • Portfolio management
    Actively managing major investment portfolios and assets including shopping centres at St Ann’s, Harrow and Three Spires, Lichfield, a ground rent portfolio in Leeds, Cambridge Science Park, Felixstowe Docks and Dunsfold Park in Surrey with a total value of assets under management of over £2 billion.

  • Leasing
    Negotiating major lettings including a 20 year lease to Debenhams of a 43,000 sq ft store at the Three Spires Shopping Centre, Lichfield and 35,200 sq ft of office space at 11 Strand, WC2 to Punter Southall Group Limited.

  • Estate management strategies
    Developing estate management strategies for major mixed use long term development schemes such as Lendlease’s £1.5 billion regeneration of Elephant & Castle and Urban & Civic’s Alconbury Weald Enterprise Zone and 1,420 acre mixed use development.
