What can I do for you?

I am a specialist in family law. My work involves advising clients on the financial aspects of divorce and separation as well as wealth protection through cohabitation, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements. I also advise clients on issues involving children, including child arrangements orders for where a child should live and how much time they should spend with each parent (previously called residence and contact orders), moving abroad, co-parenting arrangements, UK and international surrogacy and legal parentage arising out donor sperm arrangements.

I recently advised a fertility clinic in High Court proceedings relating to legal parentage. I acted for the Surrogate Mother in Re F v M v SM [2017] EWHC 2176 (Fam) following a breakdown in the intended parents' relationship and I acted for the Father in Re M-A (A Child) [2018] EWCA Civ 896 successfully defending the Mother's appeal against an order for the Child to live with Father in another country.

Not only does my work include advising on the outcome, but also how best to go about reaching a deal and understanding what your priorities are.

Supporting my clients’ aims and objectives

At Mills & Reeve we work as part of a team to ensure that our clients receive the best advice from the right lawyer, in a timely and cost efficient manner. I understand that each client’s case is unique and I always take the time to listen to my clients to ensure I understand what they are trying to achieve and why.

I strongly believe that the best results are normally achieved through a negotiated settlement, whether that be through mediation, collaborative law or voluntary negotiations between lawyers. I am a trained collaborative lawyer and I regularly assist clients reaching a settlement outside of court. Avoiding court means that my clients retain more control over the issues that matter most to them, can maintain their privacy over sensitive issues and reach a solution that works for their individual family. Sometimes court proceedings or arbitration can be necessary to resolve the issues and I am experienced dealing with complex litigation.
