I lead our healthcare and mental health law teams here at Mills & Reeve. We have over 20 lawyers to provide support, proactive advice, risk management lessons, advocacy, training and media input, as well as the usual legal skills! These are applied to a very wide range of patient related issues. Going the extra mile is what it is all about and my team and I are available for you 24/7.
Supporting my clients’ objectives
Mental health provider clients face their own fair share of challenges, particularly on the legislative front. My team is here to assist in the interpretation and application of the Mental Health Act 1983 and to fend off judicial reviews too!
Inquests affect all our clients. We work to support staff during what is a difficult and stressful time.

From a patient law perspective, these are interesting times with many challenging issues to grapple with e.g. the impact of Francis, consultation around hospital reconfigurations, how CCGs will deal with continuing healthcare or priorities and what is a DOL? These are just a few of the issues that we are working with our clients on on a daily basis. My team and I are also very conscious of the additional financial pressures affecting our clients.
