What does the role involve?
We are looking for an Associate to cover a period of maternity commencing in January 2020. You will work within our Insurance Disputes National Service Line (“NSL”) based in our Manchester office. Working under supervision, you will assist the partners and other NSL members on complex work, dealing with professional negligence matters. You will act for the insurers of professionals eg solicitors, barristers, accountants, brokers, architects and other construction professionals.

What experience is required?
You will be an Associate of 1+ years qualified with experience gained in a City firm or large regional firm. You will have a good background in commercial litigation and/or professional indemnity litigation, and insurance coverage disputes.
What skills and attributes would I need?
- Good academics - 2.1 degree or equivalent with good A levels or equivalents
- Litigation experience
- Excellent written English for drafting purposes
- Advocacy skills
- Self-starting with common sense and initiative
- Good time and file management skills
- Ability to build good working relationships with clients and potential clients
- Good research skills, including an ability to use online information sources
Please note that, in the event that we make an offer of employment, we will conduct pre-employment screening that includes checks relating to your professional and academic qualifications, references from previous employers, your eligibility to work in the UK and any disciplinary history recorded with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). You will also be required to complete a self-declaration to access your character and suitability.
