What can I do for you?
I am a partner and head of the family team in the eastern region. I joined Mills & Reeve in Cambridge in 2003 after spending nine years as a family lawyer at a top firm in London. My work includes dealing with the financial issues arising out of divorce and separation, many involving substantial assets and complex issues such as trusts, pensions, family businesses (including farms) and other business interests. I also advise on aspects of wealth protection such as pre and post-marital agreements.
Supporting my clients’ objectives
I understand that everybody’s situation is different. I adapt my approach and advice to the individual circumstances and wishes of my client. My approach is client led and client focused, whether that be in mediation, collaborative law, solicitor lead negotiation or litigation. In whatever way a client wants a case to be dealt with, my approach is always to work with clients to try and find a solution to the issues they face.
Providing my clients with the type of service that they want is very important to me and to our team.
What do others say?
We are very proud of our family team at Mills & Reeve and were delighted when this was recognised at the Legal Business Awards, where we won Private Client Team of the Year 2009. We pride ourselves on giving excellent clear advice tailored to the individual needs of our clients. In addition, Chambers UK describes us as “becoming a truly national player for family matters” while “clients appreciate the team’s practical, problem-solving approach and suggest that this is one way in which Mills & Reeve differentiates itself from its competitors”.
On a personal level, I was described in Chambers UK 2010 as “a highly efficient operator with great interpersonal skills” and "well liked by clients and peers for her no-nonsense and practical approach".
What else should you know?
I am a member of Resolution and a trained collaborative lawyer. I am also a member of the Cambridge Collaborative Family Law Group Committee, with particular responsibility for the group's training.
As a qualified mediator, I also act for people who are in mediation.
I have lectured both locally and nationally on matters relating to family law and have written articles for the local and national press on family law and relationship breakdown.
As a national team we run a website www.divorce.co.uk which aims to guide individuals through the information and resources they need to help cope with the end of a relationship, whether it be emotional support or practical advice.
