Claims against construction professionals

Your challenges

An aggrieved client is complaining. Time and costs overruns? Negligent design? Overvaluation? A fee bill prompting a counter claim? Or are you just piggy in the middle in a dispute between employer and contractor?

We deal with all types of disputes whether by adjudication, mediation, expert determination, litigation (in particular in the Technology and Construction Court) or arbitration. We have particular expertise in defending and resolving claims against architects, design and build contractors, engineers and quantity surveyors and project managers.

Achieving your ambitions

Our clients want lawyers who will work with them to resolve the issues they face. We appreciate how sensitive your matters can be and are proud of our reputation for being friendly and approachable. Where we act for insurers and insureds, there’s no hidden agenda and we adopt a transparent approach. Rarely can a case be resolved only at trial. Together we cut through the issues – no matter how complex – and aim to provide a pragmatic, commercial solution.

The strength you need

We have over 30 lawyers servicing professional insurers dealing with a wide range of claims against professionals. We also have a further 13 specialist construction and engineering lawyers working on national and international projects.

With a spread of lawyers across London, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Norwich, we act for around 40 Lloyd’s and London market insurers, as well as their insureds. We have the resources and expertise to deal with a range of problems from policy drafting and coverage advice to disciplinary proceedings.

Our team is experienced in contract negotiation and drafting, as well as the resolution of insured and non-insured claims. We deal with all steps involved in a construction project, from the initial feasibility study through to preparation of the design, appointment of the contractor, commencement and subsequent administration of the works including the issue of interim certificates, claims for extensions of time and loss and expense to completion, release of retention and the issue of the final certificate.
