What can I do for you?
I specialise in advising individuals on their estate planning. My work often involves structuring family wealth so that tax charges (in particular inheritance tax) are minimised and it is protected from attack in the divorce of a family member. This is likely to involve the use of wills, trusts, family investment companies and family charters etc.
Supporting my clients’ objectives
The key to this is to understand what the objectives are. That involves a lot of listening, with some quizzing to make sure I get to the heart of the issues. I then need to work with my client (and often also with his or her other professional advisers) using my knowledge and expertise to come up with a solution that will achieve their objective.
What do others say?
It is great to be regarded as a leader in the private client field, being top rated by the legal directories. Chambers UK says: “A truly affable adviser, Matthew Hansell is exceptional in his field. He is the most high-profile member of the team and is praised market-wide for ‘his encyclopaedic knowledge and excellent grasp of the technical issues’. Hansell is recognised for his work with high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs and professionals."
People usually say that I am good at getting straight to the heart of an issue and that I provide very practical advice.
