What can I do for you?
I lead our corporate and governance work for NHS bodies and also work on health-related projects for our higher education clients.
I help clients who want to partner with other organisations, including contracting and delegation of functions, to achieve their strategic goals and make use of their financial freedoms. I also advise on organisational change and corporate governance at Board level drawing on my extensive experience of advising NHS bodies and PLCs.
Acting on the first business acquisition by an NHS foundation trust gave us some useful insights into how such a transaction might be streamlined. On subsequent transactions, we were able to put these ideas into practice, saving our clients time and money.
Supporting my clients’ aims
A good example is our work for Imperial College London on their Academic Health Science Centre. Their vision is to have the highest possible integration while respecting the legal separation between the university and the new “Supertrust” created to be its NHS partner.
Working closely with the university, we explored potential models and how these might work when the NHS partner became a foundation trust or foundation trust equivalent.
Imperial drafted a relationship deed, on which we then advised, to put beyond doubt the governance arrangements underlying the collaboration, as well as documenting commercial agreements on important areas like branding, technology transfer, funding and risk-sharing. Our relevant experience from a groundbreaking management franchise was particularly helpful.
What do others say?
“Tim Winn elicits a wealth of positive feedback, and is credited with being ‘incredibly willing to make that extra effort’. Sources also say he is ‘extremely helpful in getting us to the place that we want to be’.” – Chambers UK.
One client expressed astonishment at receiving a review of their foundation trust consultation at 10.30pm on a Saturday night, having only sent it to us at lunchtime that day. Responsiveness and practicality are recurring themes, as is the ability to think outside the box. Legal 500, also quoting some of our clients, says “Tim Winn’s group is praised for its communication and full understanding of business issues.”
