What can I do for you?

My work covers a range of intellectual property, information technology and commercial issues. I regularly advise on issues about IT procurement, service provision, media agreements including publishing deals and co-production arrangements, and partnership funding through grants or sponsorship.

Supporting my clients’ objectives

Over the past few years, I have advised NHS Direct on a range of IT and telecoms matters related to the National Pandemic Flu Service. This has involved negotiating with a major telecoms service provider, a software provider and other government bodies. Some of the issues that have arisen have been complicated by the contractual relationship between the parties, so it was really rewarding when the client emailed saying:

"I'd like to thank you for all the support you have given me over the past three years or so; we simply wouldn't be where we are without it and the very big stakeholder group that we've had to look after has been much easier to manage thanks to your legal-English-legal translation skills!"

What do others say?

One client was kind enough to write and say: "I appreciate that we are the paying customer but the speed of your response and clarity of information given adds much to the feeling that we are getting value for money". Another client wrote that my advice was "really helpful and detailed. Exactly what I needed to make sense of that particular issue".

It's really nice to receive these comments, and what's more, it's great to be part of a team that clients praise for "being quick to understand the issues at hand, giving great guidance and delivering in a timely fashion", according to Chambers UK.

What else should you know?

I have recently completed a six month secondment at the British Council and I also edit the firm's staff magazine (fortunately I have yet to be summoned to give evidence at the Leveson Inquiry!). Outside the office, I play for our cricket, hockey and football teams, which compete with varying degrees of success in and around Cambridge.
