What can I do for you?

I have been a partner in the private tax team since 2006. I advise clients in the UK and overseas on how they should hold their assets, often using trusts and corporate structures. I regularly prepare trusts and tax efficient wills for clients and advise them on asset protection and tax planning requirements. I have particular expertise with property structuring issues for both commercial, agricultural and residential property (including the annual tax on enveloped dwellings legislation) and the use of special corporate structures as alternatives to trusts in appropriate circumstances.

Frequently, my work requires me to deal with capacity issues and Court of Protection matters connected to powers of attorney, as well as complex probate matters.

Supporting my clients’ objectives

I have recently been involved in preparing very flexible wills for clients that contain a special mechanism to obtain large inheritance tax savings on the family home and other investments, where the family assets include shares or interests in trading businesses. The flexibility is particularly attractive for clients bearing in mind the large number of legislative changes there have been in recent years and the future changes we are likely to see. The flexibility also offers significant asset protection benefits which in an uncertain world is attractive for many people.
