New OfS conditions of registration in force from 1 May 2022

The Office for Students has introduced new ‘conditions of registration’ relating to quality and standards in higher education in England.

These conditions of registration came into force on 1 May 2022 following a consultation process.

We highlighted the changes back in September 2021 in our blog ‘Regulating Quality’

There are new ongoing conditions of registration B1, B2, B4 and B5 which apply to institutions already on the OfS Register of English Higher Education Providers.

The OfS will be able to take regulatory action for a breach of these conditions of registration. The OfS has highlighted quality and standards as an area of focus for its strategy 2022-2025, along with equality of opportunity.

New initial conditions of registration B7 and B8 will apply to institutions which apply to the OfS for registration after 1 May 2022.
