Update No.2: consultation on Mental Health Tribunal reforms

In our previous blog, we explained how the Tribunal Procedure Committee (TCP) proposed that section 2 tribunal hearings be listed within ten days rather than seven days.

The TCP have indicated that this change was as a temporary response to the current pandemic and the TCP are utilising this time to monitor the effects of the change before any final decision is made.

In total the TPC received 60 responses; 51 in favour of the change and nine against the change.

For anyone who has a burning desire to look at the earlier consultation papers, whilst the final decision is made, these can be found here.

As soon as we have the outcome from TPC we will provide further updates.
