National Quality Board on quality in ICSs

Last month this three page Position Statement was published for those working in health and care systems.

It starts with a reminder of the Triple Aim duty to “deliver high quality care and put quality, including safety, at the forefront of planning an decision making”.

They are concerned that the structural changes afoot will put quality / safety at risk.

Within the Position Statement there is a link to the Shared Commitment to Quality and three sets of case studies.

Six consistent operational requirements are set out for quality oversight during the transition period and beyond. The quality oversight is to cover all devolved directly commissioned services including private, not for profit and third sector providers as well as primary care.

The Position Statement notes that whilst quality oversight and improvement will largely be delivered locally through place-based partnerships, Integrated Care Systems will have an important role to play.
