Mills & Reeve building for the future with The Manufacturing Technology Centre

We have been appointed as principal legal advisor to the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC).

Following a competitive tender process including three other firms, we were appointed to advise the MTC as its principal legal partner on a full service basis, including employment, IP, corporate tax, construction, commercial contracts and commercial property.

The Coventry-based MTC develops innovative manufacturing techniques in collaboration with research partners that include University of Birmingham, University of Nottingham, Loughborough University and TWI Ltd. The MTC is one of seven High Value Manufacturing Catapult centres across the UK designed to help companies take technologies developed in academic research institutes and bring them to market. Members include Rolls Royce, Siemens, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Airbus.

The Mills & Reeve team was headed by Birmingham employment partner Richard Santy and included partners Jayne Hussey and Alasdair Poore

Richard said: “The MTC is involved in research for some of the most exciting and innovative projects in the manufacturing sector and we’re delighted to have been appointed. The Midlands is really coming into its own as a region that is looking to invest in the future and we’re pleased to have the opportunity to help the MTC build on its success further.”

“We are impressed by the manner in which Mills & Reeve has approached the relationship building process with key MTC contacts since confirming the appointment,” commented Bruce Siddorn, commercial manager and company secretary for MTC. “We look forward to working with the Mills & Reeve team and anticipate that their innovative approach to identifying solutions will bring significant benefits to MTC’s business activities.”
