Mills & Reeve Charitable Trust supports foodbanks with £35,000 donation

Mills & Reeve Charitable Trust donated a total of £35,000 to local foodbanks during the 2023 festive period.

Each year, the Mills & Reeve Charitable Trust donates to those in need who might not have the opportunity to celebrate and enjoy the festive period in the way many are fortunate enough to do.

The trust chose to support local foodbanks again in 2023 in the cities where the firm’s seven offices are located. With the rising cost of living, foodbanks are in higher demand compared to previous years. The foodbanks provide local communities with emergency food, food vouchers, support and advice.

Charles Staveley, Mills & Reeve senior partner, said: “We’re really pleased to have supported some of those most in need over the festive period. We hope these donations to foodbanks across the country made a difference and helped with the vital work they do in trying to alleviate food poverty.”

Meanwhile, Mills & Reeve offices held various fundraising activities during December to support other local charities.

  • Volunteers across the Leeds, Birmingham and Norwich offices organised crafting sessions to make LGBTQ+ themed wreaths using defective lanyards that would otherwise have gone to landfill. The wreaths were then auctioned off, with the proceeds being donated to Out Together and other LGBTQ+ charities.
  • The London office held its annual festive quiz and Christmas jumper day, which raised a total of £2,250 for various charities.
  • In Manchester, the team organised a gifts collection for Wood Street Mission and supported Contact’s Christmas Access Scheme.
  • The Norwich team decorated their desks, held a raffle which raised £1,200 for Norwich Foodbank, and donated £2,000 to Norwich Homeless Support and £750 to St. Martins Housing Trust.
