Orpalis are based in Toulouse, France and specialise in solutions for document imaging and document management. They publish software for PDF, document imaging, OCR, barcodes and scanning. Aquaforest develop software for high performance document processing that make PDFs automatically searchable.
“There is a growing demand for contextual data capture and analytics by extracting intelligence and knowledge from unstructured information held in PDF documents,” says Elodie Tellier, Managing Director of the Orpalis group and member of the PDF Association Board of Directors. “At Orpalis, we’re focused on building the engines to meet this demand. Our SDK offer goes even beyond PDF analysis and OCR, as it covers the full life-cycle of electronic documents, from acquisition to storage. With our tools, Aquaforest’s enterprise solutions will benefit from an extended set of features.”
Alex Kenworthy, a principal associate, and deputy head of Mills & Reeve’s Europe desk commented: “Orpalis is fast becoming a key player in technology solutions for PDF file management and the acquisition of Aquaforest is a big statement and further strengthens Orpalis' international footprint. We very much enjoyed working with Loic and Elodie on this transaction and wish them every success in further developing the business both on these shores and internationally.”
One massive upside is that there were absolutely no issues with this client when sending over stacks of signed PDF documents in readiness for completion!
Mills & Reeve worked for the first time alongside French corporate finance firm Inextenso.
