The deal will support private equity investors to understand the technological infrastructure and processes of any digitally enabled business in a wide range of sectors.

Tech Economy, a technology focused specialty consulting firm, has been acquired by Bain & Company, a global management consultancy recognised as one of the leading professional services firms in the private equity sector.

Tech Economy conducts buy-side and sell-side due diligence for the technology sector, as well as value creation assignments. Its clients include leading global and mid-market private equity firms on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as their software and tech enabled portfolio companies. This acquisition will greatly compliment Bain’s existing private equity offering.

Mills & Reeve advised on the sale of Tech Economy Limited to Bain & Company UK, the UK subsidiary of the US based management consultancy Bain & Company.

Cooley LLP advised Bain on the acquisition.

Tom Pickthorn, partner and head of international at Mills & Reeve said: “Tech Economy will bring deep expertise of the technology section to Bain. It has been great to have worked with Robert Pierce and his colleagues at Tech Economy from when it was established right through to its sale.  A big thank you goes to M&A specialist Emma Wilson who was integral to bringing the deal over the line”.
