What can I do for you?

I specialise in advising educationgovernment and corporate clients on a wide range of commercial and sourcing agreements. Much of my work is cross-border and includes helping universities to implement their international strategies whether by way of joint venture or by establishing a presence overseas.

I’m a regular speaker and commentator on the impact of Brexit on the education sector.

Supporting my clients’ objectives

A real highlight for me was leading an international team acting for a university client establishing a joint institute in China. The project was complex and involved UK and Chinese regulatory issues. My role was ensure the team delivered a seamless service to the client and to ensure that the university’s objectives were achieved.

Another highlight was advising a leading university on the simultaneous implementation of two outsourcing projects with a combined value of around £200M. The projects were complex and involved the creation of a joint venture company and over 20 separate agreements. The projects contributed greatly to the quality of student services on campus.

What do others say?

I’m delighted to have been described in Legal 500 as being “highly responsive and personable”, “commercial and pragmatic” and “highly recommended”. One of the most common things we hear is that our team is approachable and friendly. Indeed, Legal 500 rates us as a Tier 1 practice for education and describes us as an ‘excellent and responsive’ team which has ‘great sector expertise’.

What else should you know?

Earlier in my career, I worked in-house as a Legal Counsel for Burberry. As well giving me the opportunity to purchase top quality coats at a great discount, my time at Burberry taught me how to deliver concise, tailored and commercial advice in a fast moving, dynamic environment. It also gave me a clear insight into how important it is for external counsel to understand clients’ commercial objectives and the sectors in which they operate.
